Mechanically, a traditional "split" card, like this one (which was played by Pro Tour Champion Kai Budde in the greatest Pro Tour Top 8 of all time) is practically / thematically very similar to both cycling cards like Go for Blood and many Modal Double-Faced Cards

Having played all three decks in both two-person and three-person play, we enjoyed the Sapphire and Steel deck the most, as its basically unstoppable (at least compared to the other Starter Decks) when ramped up properly

While there are interesting cards in this deck and also interesting mechanics, none of these cards and mechanics work together well, and in some ways they even work against each other

Enigma Sphinx nets you a lot of value as long as you can cast it
